To the Editor:
In your March 1997 Editor's Note regarding scientific inquiry and inquisitiveness, your comment "I bet she never asked for release time or said she couldn't collect the data because she did not have a grant or was too ignorant of statistics" makes unfair targets of those who justifiably use those very reasons as excuses for not performing publishable research.
Although your point has some validity, it belies the real problem: the dearth of a research culture in academic programs in physical therapy, and in the profession....
