I want to thank Dr Purtilo for her review and thoughtful comments regarding my article "The Identification of Ethical Issues in Physical Therapy Practice." Her commentary serves as an additional conclusion to my study. Dr Purtilo clearly identifies both the potential contributions of this study and many additional questions that need to be investigated and actively discussed in the physical therapy community.
I wholeheartedly agree with Dr Purtilo's suggestion that we expand the discussion of these issues to include the perceptions of more than a small group of individuals nominated as experts in the area of professional ethics. The variety of practice settings and continual changes in our roles and responsibilities as clinicians provide many new and evolving issues....
