Physical Therapy Diagnosis


This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

To the Editor:

I read with great interest the article by Delitto and Snyder-Mackler entitled "The Diagnostic Process: Examples in Orthopedic Physical Therapy" (March 1995). I believe the article raised multiple issues that are important to address to move the discussion of diagnosis within the physical therapy profession forward. In the spirit of constructive critique and to further discussion on this important issue, I do, however, have some concerns related to various topics the authors addressed.

The authors, in making a variety of recommendations for how to best teach the diagnostic process, argue against the problem-oriented medical record's (POMR) "SOAP" format and for an early hypothesis formation method....
