Three years ago this month, an early evening phone call from the president of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) literally caught me napping. In my drowsiness I hoped that I had heard the message correctly and that I had indeed been chosen to become editor of Physical Therapy. Once the reality of the appointment finally sank in, it never left me. As an educator, a researcher, and the chief of a clinical service, I am pulled in many directions, but the position of editor places me at the crossroads where all these roles come together. This is, after all, the journal of the American Physical Therapy Association, and, as the descriptor implies, it is a journal for every member of the profession....
