To the Editor:

I want to express my appreciation for your comments in your October 1991 editorial "The Politics of Being." In my own experience, I have found the realities of politics and societal issues overwhelming and at times confusing. I do not believe that I am alone in this regard. For these reasons, I believe that we need reminders of our privilege and responsibility to be involved in decision making. I also believe that we need to seek information in order to clarify the issues in our own minds. I keep hearing and reading political commentaries that propound that health care will be the most significant issue in the next national election. For years we have seen changes in the health care system. We have also found loopholes in the system that have allowed us to function outside of it....
