Colleagues, students, friends of physical therapy, and special guests, I welcome you to the official opening of the Sixty-Third Annual Conference of the American Physical Therapy Association. The hospitality and friendliness of this beautiful city of San Antonio are exceptional and I want to thank the mayor and other city officials for giving us such a warm welcome.

I also want to acknowledge others who directly or indirectly are very special to our Association. You met the members of the Board of Directors at the beginning of these opening ceremonies. As your President, I feel most fortunate to have these Board members as my colleagues. This Board is fully committed to the best interests of this profession and the Association and makes every effort to make decisions accordingly....
