One criterion the Associate Editors and I use when selecting topics for special issues is that of clinical applicability. This year's topic reaches across all aspects of physical therapy by providing broad practical considerations. Whatever specific interests therapists may have, they can find implications in this issue to apply to everyday practice and living. Some of the ideas may relate not only to immediate and direct patient care but to attitudes and concepts that influence the wellness of any individual, regardless of age or physical condition. And physical therapists can use this basic information when promoting desirable health practices for themselves as well as for their clients.
Another criterion we use in making selections is that of timeliness. We believe the information provided in this issue not only reflects the state of the art for clinicians involved in cardiac rehabilitation but also highlights a contemporary change in practice....
