To the Editor:
The May 1984 issue of PHYSICAL THERAPY contained an article addressing methods of hydrostatic weighing. Physical therapists could expand their role in athletic and sports programs by becoming skilled in body composition assessment techniques. Methods must be sound, however, to preserve the accuracy of hydrostatic weighing. The method used by Williams et al1 introduced sources of error that can be easily corrected.
The body density formula used by Williams et al was incorrect....
