We would like to thank Mr. Miller for his commentary. Not only has he raised some interesting points for discussion, but he has also pointed out some omissions in our methodology. By responding to both areas, we hope to add validity to the study and clarify our objectives and conclusions.
The objectives of our study were to investigate one method of maintaining a lumbar lordosis during sitting and to describe postural changes that resulted from that method. We agree that it is not surprising to find an increase in lordosis with use of a lumbar posture aid; however, other changes also occur in the position of the spine and limbs. We are somewhat surprised that head position, which is directly linked to the spine, does not change with use of a lumbar support pillow....
