Ireland's Educators

To the Editor:

It was with interest that I read the article, "Profile of Physical Therapy Educators in Five Countries" by Joan Walker (Vol 63: 1127–1133, 1983), having been one of the physiotherapists to answer the questionnaire. I thought you might be interested to have an up-date on information.

No longer can Britain and Ireland be treated as one. In the Republic of Ireland there is only one form of undergraduate education, which is a four year honours degree course. There are two programs, one in Trinity College and one in University College. Both the schools of physiotherapy are within the Faculty of Medical and Dental Sciences.

Members of the staff are full-time academic staff, with the tenure of office that is associated with the grade. The grades are lecturer, senior lecturer, and Director....
