Entry-Level Education

To the Editor:

Caston's article, "Entry Level Education," in the January issue of PHYSICAL THERAPY, pointed out that many members of the American Physical Therapy Association were surprised when the House of Delegates voted to raise entry-level education to a post-baccalaureate degree (RC 14–79). She further reported that there was a lack of information provided to members before action on this resolution as well as after the adoption of RC 14–79. A recent study suggests that one fifth of the APTA membership was not aware of the decision 20 months after adoption. We are concerned about this apparent lack of communication within the APTA.

As part of a survey, graduates of the Marquette University Program in Physical Therapy were asked if they were aware of the resolution on entry-level education. Thirty percent of all respondents answered no to the question....
