The purpose of this article is to provide important information for educators, clinicians, and students involved in minority student selection for physical therapy educational programs. This information should assist admissions committees in making appropriate judgments and decisions regarding minority applicants. Information considered to be important as a basis for minority student selection decisions are the Bakke decision, the intentions of affirmative action, an assessment of disadvantage, predictors for minority student selection, and the leadership roles within the profession.
